I am going away to a summer program for the next week, so I won't be home at all. One thing I always do when I leave for more than a day or two is unplug electronics. Even when they're not in use, the plugs still draw some power from the wall. Things that I usually unplug include alarm clocks, phone/iPod chargers, laptops and lamps. This week I also unplugged my air conditioner. In addition (if no one will be home) you could unplug appliances in the kitchen, like the toaster or the coffee maker. Anything counts! Babysteps.
